Hi and Welcome to My Team in Training home page!

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated!!! I couln't have reached my goal without each and every one of you!

I have exciting news to share with you and I would also like to ask for your support. On September 14, 2008 as a member of the Massachusetts Chapter's Team In Training (TNT) Program on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society I will be competing in the Nations Triathlon (it is a 1.5 K swim, 40 K bike, and 10 K run).

Why?, you ask.

I’ve wanted to help in the fight against cancers of all types since I was 12 years old, when one of my childhood friends, Julie Steiner, died of cancer. I participated in my first TNT triathlon last August. It's a fantastic program and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society does amazing things for patients and their families. Since February I’ve been training, and mentoring new TNT participants, for the Mooseman Triathlon in June. The season for Nations begins in May, and that is when I will meet my new "mentees" for the Nations Triathlon.

After swimming in college, I didn’t think the training itself would be too much of a challenge. Motivating myself to go out and do it, though, would be. This is where Team In Training (TNT) comes into play. I am racing in honor of those I know who have battled cancer as well as my team's Honored Hero, Chris . Knowing what they have gone through and are going through helps me appreciate being able to train and compete. They would likely have preferred to do two or three triathlons at once instead of battling
cancer, and I can only imagine what their families would be willing to do to see them do that.

Team In Training (TNT) exists to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. There are currently more than 747,000 Americans living with a blood cancer! The good news is that the survival rate has risen from 4% in 1960 to 81% in the last decade. This is in part due to the money that The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has raised to aid researchers in their fight to find cures for this disease.

Team In Training (TNT) is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societies largest fund-raising program, bringing in nearly 98 million dollars this past year alone. I have pledged to raise least $2600.00

To do this, I am writing to ask each of you, your family and your friends for your support. Your donation is tax-deductable and NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. I hope you will join me on this journey by making a donation to my campaign:
